Transformer tanks are critical components that protect the active part, insulation system, and insulating oil from external conditions while contributing to the mechanical integrity and operational safety of the transformer.
At Deltasan, transformer tanks—including the bottom plate, side walls, and top cover—are manufactured using high-quality steel plates joined by electric welding. The manufacturing process is carried out according to the transformer's power rating and design requirements.
For distribution transformers up to 4000 kVA, cooling surfaces are formed by corrugated walls. These corrugated walls also constitute the side walls of the transformer tank, contributing to both structural integrity and heat dissipation. For higher-power transformers, radiators are used instead of corrugated wall panels to provide the required cooling performance.
Following the welding process, each transformer tank undergoes a leak-tightness test to verify its resistance to oil leakage. The mechanical strength and sealing performance of the tanks are tested under pressure and vacuum conditions in accordance with their design specifications.
Corrugated-wall tanks are designed to withstand a pressure of 0.35 bar, while radiator-equipped transformer tanks are designed with a 1 bar vacuum resistance. These tests help ensure reliable operation under actual service conditions.
Before painting, all surfaces of the tank that come into contact with oil undergo appropriate surface preparation. These surfaces are cleaned using sanding and specialized chemical cleaning methods to ensure proper adhesion and durability of the protective coating.
The tanks and top covers are sandblasted in accordance with applicable DIN standards. Where required, Deltasan can also accommodate specific customer or project requirements regarding sandblasting procedures and surface preparation.
The configuration and equipment of the transformer top cover are determined according to project requirements, contractual specifications, and customer demands.
Connection components installed on the top cover, as well as arcing horns for high-voltage bushings, are manufactured from stainless steel or materials with special anti-corrosion coatings to provide enhanced resistance against environmental conditions.
Deltasan manufactures transformer tanks with a focus on mechanical strength, leak tightness, surface quality, and corrosion resistance, delivering reliable and long-lasting solutions for a wide range of transformer applications.
